Society’s
Taste of England
24.06.02
Over three hundred members of Newbury & District Agricultural
Society enjoyed their annual summer get-together in the magnificent
grounds of Englefield House, Englefield, last Saturday.
The event, held by kind permission of Sir William and Lady Benyon
and Society President, Richard Benyon, was organised by Society
volunteers headed by Simon and Susan Carter, who are pictured (centre)
with the President (top) and Society Chairman, Michael Bowden (bottom)
and his wife Linda.
Supporting British agriculture, guests tucked into a hog roast
and numerous English cheeses provided by two regular exhibitors
at the Society’s Royal County of Berkshire Show - Lambourn’s
Sheepdrove Organic Farm and Derek Priestley from Halifax, Yorkshire.
Commenting Michael Bowden said, “Last year we had to cancel
this popular event due to and mouth disease, so I am delighted
that once again members were able to meet up, particularly in such
a wonderful location”.
