Shearing requires skill to shear efficiently and quickly without causing harm to sheep or shearer, they are usually shorn once a year in late spring, early summer.

- Stop the sheep overheating in the warmer weather
- Farmers sell the wool that is shorn to make clothing and materials

COSSACK style tricks performed by daredevil stunt riders will be part of this year’s bumper 2011 Royal County of Berkshire Show!
Watch as these amazing riders vault onto their horses and stand in the saddle at a gallop! The Cossack display will be a thrilling spectacle of fast paced stunts and tricks on horseback. The team have a brilliant collection of horses and riders they will be showcasing over the weekend.

The Corn Exchange plays host to a record breaking challenge this weekend- the recreation of the Newbury Coat!
Join the Kennett Valley Guild of Weavers,Spinners and Dyers this weekend at the Corn Exchange, Newbury. Watch as they work together to turn fleeces off the back of sheep to a completed coat in under 13 hours.

The Wickerman Oxford returns for another year with a brand new design! Thomas Lydford-Brace is this year's winner with a Medusa Snake design. Funds raised through the Wicker Man Oxford Sculpture Project 2011 will be donated to Maggies Cancer Care Centres. We visited Felicity Wise a local Dexter Cattle breeder from Wokingham and asked her for some tips on what makes a winning Dexter.
