ABOUT THE NEWBURY & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

Who we are

The Newbury and District Agricultural Society was formed in 1909 with the aim of providing a show to replace the local Horse Show.

Today the Society is a registered charity established with the aims:

  • To promote advance and improve for the public benefit agriculture, horticulture, forestry and rural crafts and skills in all their branches and forms
  • To promote advance and improve the education of the public in matters connected with agriculture, horticulture, forestry and rural crafts and skills.

The showcase for these aims is one of the most successful agricultural shows in the country – The Royal County of Berkshire Show. The Society is the sole organiser of this show.
