Newbury & District Agricultural Society appoint new Chief Executive
The Newbury & District Agricultural Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia Marks as the new Chief Executive.
Patricia was born into a hunting and farming family, was an active member of the young farmers’ movement, and has extensively worked in a volunteer and
committee environment, gaining significant experience in the public sector and business support environments.
Patricia started her career in manufacturing, then working on business development in a range of sectors including beef production, chicken incubation
machinery and the NHS.
Patricia then set up and successfully ran her own business and social enterprise, which focused on work skills, training and people development, working
with the Department of Work and Pensions, Crown Estates and Job Centre Plus. Whilst in this role, Patricia also led teams, motivating them and developed
strategies in line with their social aims and objectives. Patricia has also in the past managed to secure funding for the charity sector and successfully
won tenders for over £4 million.
Patricia was the recipient of the Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2017 for enterprise and has recently been made a fellow of the RSA.
Following the appointment, Patricia comments “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Newbury and District Agricultural Society and look forward to developing the work of the Society, plus working closely with the management board, staff, membership, volunteers and supporters to be innovative, forward thinking and vibrant in our approach and the delivery of progressive Royal County of Berkshire Shows.”
